Learn about the Student Centered Interactive Field Trip: Now, when we go on trips I request that our hosts take time to get to know my students instead of just informing the students about the company.
Excerpts from Class of 2015 Field Trip to Ignited: From Angel B: One surprising yet reoccuring idea that I heard today came from Jeremy. Jeremy is a Creative(Art Director) at Ignited and he said through his presentation that a lot of art directors he knows suck at drawing. His job is about being really creative and trying to bring his ideas to life. I think this meant something to me because at times I have a lot of ideas but I am unable to explain them because I suck at drawing. All of the presentations were great, but I think my favorite was Katie's. Katie presented her job really well and it made me more interested in what she does. I found it really cool how she is the "middle person" of the company.
From Juanita B: I liked everything! Each one of them had an interesting job that seemed so simple, but in reality it had much more than i expected. For example the art director, I thought he just drew and designed but actually he had to talk, make ads, present his idea. Jason mentioned that it would be a great idea if we showed our audience how it works and how it helped us with public speaking. Also to try to be more specific with our work process. It was a great experience I loved their work environment so chill and comfortable. Oh man the restrooms though!! AWESOME! They were BEAUTIFUL. Just wanted to add that.
From Diana F: The two main ideas that I got from the presentation was advertising and public speaking. I particularly liked Jeremy's presentation because I liked how he informed us about how to advertise your product as the best. He also gave us advice about not to lie about it but to promote as much as possible.
From Ana H: Two main ideas that meant something to me was that being creative meant that you have to think outside your comfort zone at times. That you have to look at other point of views and create work. Another idea that really stuck to me was NETWORKING, it's important and it's going to help when you're looking for jobs or projects to work on. Some feedback I heard was that for a public speaking app, our WHOLE team has to own public speaking. I also heard that with our app we need to keep it a little simpler. For my own portfolio I heard that I have to explain less of all that I can do and focus more onto what I can do GREAT and what goal I'm working towards to.
Eduardo M: The idea that stood out the most was that networking is important because it builds connections to potential jobs. The other thing that stood out to me was that every job or activity can show that I have certain skills even if they are not apparent.
Jonathan M: Advertising is now a company I might consider majoring in because it seems fun. I love interacting with new people and this job does just that. It can be a career that I won't get bored in and all of a sudden decide to quit so that's a good thing.
Carolina M: The Ignited presentations were informative but the things that were meaningful was when they all emphasize the networking component of jobs and internship.
Karina S: Two main ideas that meant something were networking and being open to as many new things as possible to gain experience. These are two things we hear often, especially in the Tech Academy but hearing people with actual jobs and experience made them seem more real.
Jonathan V: I really liked our tripped to ignited, two main ideas that I got from ignited and the presentations were; present with confidence and network as much as possible.
